Industrial architecture led the way in innovative building design and technology from the Industrial Revolution to the mid 1900's, and ever since has been at the heart of the devopment of modern architecture. The sector is in the midst of a profound and exciting transformation placing increased demands on designers in regards to both content and aesthetics.
The factories, offices, warehouses, energy and waste treatment plants we design are required to meet increasingly stringent efficiency and environmental standards.
With the increased consciousness of the imprint these buildings make on the landscape, together with the growing demand for sustainable environments, architects are having to innovate and create spaces that are progressively more worker friendly and respectful towards their surroundings.
At the same time industrial development and design has to be as functional as possible. The only way we can produce both functional and aesthetic solutions is to understand the operator as well as their business. |
