Project Details
Reid Campbell has worked closely with Accor Asia Pacific and Sydney Olympic Park Authority to successfully complete negotiations and secure land acquisition for the construction of a new, 5 star rated, 212 room Sofitel Hotel on the Herb Elliott Avenue and Olympic Boulevard intersection at Sydney Olympic Park.
The new 18 storey high, 16 level building will provide a lounge bar, A-la-carte restaurant, business centre, multi-use conference and function centre, executive lounge facilities and gymnasium. Of the 212 guest rooms, 8 will be superior style, interconnecting 1 bedroom apartment suites and 5 will be executive style 1 bedroom apartments. There will be 11 wheelchair accessible guest rooms all with interconnecting carer guest rooms including 1 superior style 1 bedroom suite. The remainder of the rooms will provide a selection of king, queen and twin rooms.
There are 2 levels of basement car parking providing approximately 130 car spaces, building services and loading facilities.
Reid Campbell has been instrumental throughout, during negotiations with SOPA for the site, in tender negotiations with St Hilliers Contracting to achieve a fixed price contract sum. The project was the subject of an Environmental Assessment Application to the Minister of Planning, the first such application within Sydney Olympic Park under new planning legislation.
Construction commenced on site in January 2007 and below ground works are now complete. The construction progress continues and the building is scheduled for completion at the beginning of April 2008.
